Two short animated pieces from Iran are to compete at the 14th annual Athens International Animation Festival (ANIMFEST).

The lineup includes ‘Pet Man’ by Marzieh Abrar-Paydar and ‘The Fox’ by Sadegh Javadi.

Javadi’s ‘The Fox’ tells the story of a young fox experiencing its first love. Meanwhile, it gets caught by a hunter who puts a bell around the fox’s neck and returns it to the woods. Now, the fox’s efforts to survive and love all begin.

‘The Fox’ has so far attended several international film events, including the 11th biennial Tehran Int’l Animation Festival (TIAF), 2018 Kinofilm Manchester Int’l Short Film Festival in the UK and 2018 CINANIMA Int’l Animated Film Festival in Portugal.

Among the highest accolades bagged by ‘The Fox’ are best short film award from the World Festival of Animated Film in the Bulgarian city of Varna and the same award from the 7th Cebu Int’l Film Festival in the Philippines.

Iran other contender ‘Pet Man’ is about a pet shop owner who is sleeping in the shop. He sees himself in a scary cage with other animals. Trying to break the cage, he faces a barrier every time.

The 40th Festival international du Court Metrage in France hosted ‘Pet Man’ before.

The 14th annual Athens International Animation Festival (ANIMFEST) aims to bring the younger generation closer to the secrets and fascination of the art of animation and their diverse applications on the small and big screen, the multimedia, the Internet and education in general.

March 14-17, 2019 will mark the four-day event to be held in Greece.
